ACADEMIC ACTIVITY PLANNING AND EVALUATION TESTS FROM OCTOBER 15 TO 31

Based on the UPC press release in relation to CatSalut's instructions, the Covid EETAC Committee has approved the following measures regarding the academic activity of the coming weeks

  1. Lectures of all the degrees will be taught online from October 19th until October 31st. The coordinator of each subject will inform the students during this week of the exact day that the teaching will be transferred to a completely online mode without affecting the academic planning.

  1. The practical activities will be taught in the same modality as they were planned. Therefore, the practical activities that were face-to-face will continue to be face-to-face.
  1. Evaluation tests:
  • As of today, mid-term and final exams will be held face-to-face.

  • The assessment tests planned for the current week (October 13th-16th) are maintained according to the established schedule and those that were planned as face-to-face will be performed as planned.

  • For the assessment tests scheduled for next week (starting on October 19th)), it will be necessary to assess on a case-by-case basis whether they can be taken in person or not. To do so, the coordinator of the subject must make the request to the head of undergraduate or master's studies, as appropriate, indicating the subject, the weight of the test, the number of students, the day, time and classrooms proposed for the test. When the resolution is obtained, the coordinator will inform the students of the modality in which each test can be done. It is very important to keep in mind that for face-to-face tests each student must have an assigned seat and must occupy the same seat throughout the morning / afternoon to follow the online classes before or after the assessment test. Under no circumstances can the chairs in a classroom be moved (they cannot even be changed of location in the classroom). Alternatively, students can leave the School to follow online teaching off-campus.

On this page you will be able to consult a summary of the most relevant information related to the exceptional academic situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Academic planning:

You can consult the guidelines on which the autumn 2020 term will be planned, provided that the sanitary conditions allow it, in the Agreement CP / 2020/06/03 of the Standing Committee of the EETAC of 18 September 2020 in this link (catalan).

Below is a summary of the main points to keep in mind:

For STUDENTS:

In general:

  • Wear a mask at all times in all building facilities (classrooms, hallways, toilets, etc.) and outdoors.

  • Respect the circulation of buildings set by the signs. The entrance to the C4 building will be made only through the main door (Olympic Canal band) and the exit will be made only through the door that leads to the service building (D7). Crowds must be avoided at all times.

  • Do not stay in the hallways. The corridors are for traffic only and the safety distance must be maintained. One must speak without shouting and in a low voice. Concentrations at class entrances and exits should be avoided at all times.

  • Perform hand hygiene constantly. Use the available hydroalcoholic gel or use a personal one. If hand hygiene is done in the toilet, it must be borne in mind that it must be entered one by one.

In class:

  • At the beginning and end of each class that is followed from a School classroom, it is mandatory to fill out the attendance registration form: https://forms.gle/G2zDZe6AbWFNoPRB8. Please keep this link in an easily accessible place so that you can register quickly.

  • Classes must be followed from the classroom assigned to the subject indicated in the schedules. If there are no vacancies in the assigned classroom, it will be possible to follow the class in a classroom where there is no subject assigned in that time slot. The link to the list of classrooms available in each time slot will be posted here.

  • The allocation of seats must be respected . If the allocation of seats is not respected, the face-to-face teaching of the whole group may have to be closed if a positive is detected.

  • You cannot enter or leave the classroom during class development.

  • Chairs cannot be moved.

  • If you follow an online class from a classroom, it is mandatory to use headphones to follow the audio of the session.

  • It is forbidden to be in a classroom except to take a class.

  • You cannot eat or drink in class.

  • It is not possible to stand in any classroom or space and the capacity of the classroom or space defined by the number of chairs in each space must be respected.

On Campus:

  • Distances must also be maintained outdoors with a mask and at all times in the student canteen. Chairs cannot be moved.

  • You cannot eat or drink in teaching buildings. You can eat and drink outdoors and in the enabled area. Always with distance.

  • It is not allowed to hold meetings or work in groups when eating with more than 6 people.

  • Smoking is not allowed within 2 meters of anyone else.

  • Access to the passenger compartment of the toilet must be done in turns. There can only be one person simultaneously.

  • Although not mandatory, at meetings of less than 6 people keep strictly the distance of a meter and a half when not wearing a mask to eat.

  • It is recommended that staying in the toilet is the minimum necessary, which can be less than 5 minutes.

  • Joint work cannot be carried out in the student canteen area even if safety distances are respected.

  • Make social life with a compact group, as far as possible: the same people for internships, meetings, celebrations, etc.

  • In the case of 1A, maintain social life with peers in the same group. Avoid social relationships with classmates of different courses.

  • It is recommended that staying in school be the bare minimum. It is recommended to take online classes from home whenever possible.

  • If you are pending the result of a PCR test, communicate the situation by email to Enric Álvarez (enric.alvarez@upc.edu) and stay home.

  • If you are in contact with a positive who has been instructed to quarantine, communicate the situation by email to Enric Álvarez (enric.alvarez@upc.edu) and stay at home.

  • Anyone who notices symptoms (feeling fever, abdominal pain, cough, etc.) while attending a class at the School should go to the concierge to have the protocol activated.

  • If you have symptoms of any kind (mild or severe fever, mild or severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, cough, loss of smell, sore throat, any discomfort when breathing or any type of stomach upset) stay in home and go to the primary care physician.

For TEACHERS:

  • At the beginning of each face-to-face session, students must be asked to complete the attendance registration form (https://forms.gle/G2zDZe6AbWFNoPRB8) and, in addition, the teacher must keep a record of the attendance. attendees and the seat they occupy. This record can be in any format that allows you to know the distance at which the students have sat.

  • If the session is non-face-to-face, students must also be asked to follow the class from a School classroom to complete the attendance registration form (https://forms.gle/G2zDZe6AbWFNoPRB8).

  • If the subject is online, it is necessary to ensure that students can have a certain two-way interaction in real time with the teacher within the stipulated time. Mid-term exams and end-of-term exams will be face-to-face.

  • To avoid overlaps with other sessions, synchronous sessions cannot be performed outside the assigned time.

  • All classes must always be done within the time allotted to the schedule, in particular each session must begin no earlier than 10 minutes after the allotted time and must end no later than 10 minutes before the set time.

  • Online classes could be recorded.

  • It is especially important that the teaching activities of each subject are defined according to the number of ECTS. Remember that 1 ECTS is equivalent to 25 hours of dedication for each student, counting academic activities of any kind.

  • If the development of the activity requires that the teacher is less than a meter and a half from the students continuously, masks of the FFP2 type or equivalent must be used. The laboratory technicians will provide these masks to the PDI who needs them and will keep the corresponding record.

  • Whenever the weather permits, all windows and doors in classrooms and laboratories will be kept open. If necessary, the windows can be closed, as the EETAC's automatic ventilation system guarantees the complete renewal of the air correctly.

  • Wear a mask in offices and at any meeting. Keep distances.

  • Do not stay in the corridors of buildings.

  • Do not hold meetings with students in class.

  • Prioritize the attention of non-contact consultations.

  • Reduce as much as possible the time spent in the toilets, making sure not to be there more than 5 minutes.

  • Do not eat together. In case of having a positive among the teachers, any other teacher with whom he has been close to eating, will be quarantined. If this happens at the School, the number of classes to be taken online is multiplied.

  • In addition to the cleaning service agreed by the university management, all classrooms will have cleaning and disinfection elements available to teachers, students and technical support staff.

  • In the case of laboratories with specific equipment, it is very important that they are cleaned only by technical staff, always equipped with adequate means of protection. It is very important that no disinfectant product is used directly on computer keyboards. If a keyboard needs to be disinfected, it must be done with a paper dampened with disinfectant.
