The EETAC Master's degrees in Applied Telecom. and Engineering Management (MASTEAM) and Advanced Telecommunications Technologies (MATT) organize a weekly series of activities (talks, technical visits, discussion pannels) that complement the academic activities with real-world experiences from companies, research centres and institutions in the main topics of the master: Internet of Things, Smart Cities, 5G mobile communications, Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Radio (SDR), cloud computing, augmented reality and audiovisual services, among others.

SpeakerAsier Atutxa (University of the Basque Country, I2T Research Group)

Title: "An introduction to data plane programming (DPP) and P4 language"

Abstract: The aim of this talk is to provide a brief introduction to data plane programming and more specifically to P4 language, explaining the architecture and some basic concepts. P4 language is used for the definition of the behavior of programmable switches and network elements. A practical use case will also be presented, which involves the preprocessing of sensor data in industrial scenarios for improved performance using programmable switches and edge computing.

Bio: Asier Atutxa received his BSc and MSc in Telecommunication Engineering in 2020 from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). He joined the Communications Engineering Department of the UPV/EHU as a researcher in the I2T Research Lab in 2018. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student in Mobile Network Information and Communication Technologies at the UPV/EHU, and has been part of several local and national research projects. He has published some papers in relevant journals and conferences, and his research interests include Software Defined Networking, data plane programming and virtualization.
