The Master's degree in Applied Telecommunications and Engineering Management (MASTEAM) organizes a weekly series of activities (talks, technical visits, discussion pannels) that complement the academic activities with real-world experiences from companies, research centres and institutions in the main topics of the master: Internet of Things. Smart Cities, 5G mobile communications, Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Radio (SDR), cloud computing, augmented reality and audiovisual services, among others.
This week's activity will be a talk from Dr. Jesús Alonso-Zárate.

Title: 5G up in the soup.
Abstract: People say that 5G will change the World as we know it. 5G will disrupt anything we have known until today. 5G will be a key facilitator for the Internet of Things (IoT), the Tactile Internet, the Internet of Skills, the Internet of Vehicles, the Internet of Smart Cities, and any other term you can come up with which has the terms "Internet" and "Smart" in it. Is this true? Let's discuss together about this and other topics during an intense 50-minute interactive session.
Bio: Dr. Jesús Alonso-Zárate is the Head of the Machine-to-Machine Communications Department at the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC). He has more than 15 years of experience conducting R&D projects in the area of the Internet of Things (IoT), and is now the project Coordinator of 5GCroCo, a European-Funded project which aims at conducting 5G trials for cross-border connected, cooperative and automated mobility (CCAM).
