The Master's degree in Applied Telecommunications and Engineering Management (MASTEAM) organizes a weekly series of activities (talks, technical visits, discussion pannels) that complement the academic activities with real-world experiences from companies, research centres and institutions in the main topics of the master: Internet of Things. Smart Cities, 5G communications, Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Radio (SDR), cloud computing, among others.

This week's activity will be a talk.

Title: Modern Networkingin a virtualized IT world

Abstract: Networking industry is experiencing a huge transformation these days, in spite of being one of the pilars of IT systems its evolution diverged from computing some years ago and nowadays it is trying to reconverge again embedding (open) software into their architecture and operation principles. We will explore how this is taking place and what are the open challenges (i.e. opportunities) the networking industry is facing, and also introducing how container (Docker) networking works under the hood.

Bio: Christian Adell is a Network Engineer with more than 10 years of experience, first as a network architect in campus/datacenter/edge deployments working for the CCMA (Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals) and now as a network engineer in Schibsted Media Group where he tries to embrace DevOps practices to support big scale network deployments either in Public Cloud and on-premises infrastructure. https://www.linkedin.com/in/christianadell
