The Master's degree in Applied Telecommunications and Engineering Management (MASTEAM) organizes a weekly series of activities (talks, technical visits, discussion pannels) that complement the academic activities with real-world experiences from companies, research centres and institutions in the main topics of the master: Internet of Things. Smart Cities, 5G mobile communications, Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Radio (SDR), cloud computing, augmented reality and audiovisual services, among others.
This week's activity will be a talk from Ricard Masó (CTO and software architect at NearbySensor).
Speaker: Ricard Masó (CTO and software architect at NearbySensor).
Title: "Where is the Ethernet port? From the IoT laboratory to the real world"
Abstract: From the authors of "Why do not all things have an Ethernet port?" and, "why radio frequency has noise?" now comes the acclaimed "Why are not 10 meters of laboratory equal to 10 meters of street?" and its second part: "when the network topology is the enemy". Managing the gap between the technological laboratory model and the real world is the most important challenge for success in the implementation of IoT projects.
Bio: Ricard Masó was born in Barcelona (1966). Has a degree in Educational Sciences. He has developed his professional career occupying positions of responsibility in areas related to the management of systems and the direction of development from different companies in the most diverse areas (health, industry, etc.) and he is also a consultant and Professor at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). Currently he is CTO and software architect in NearbySensor, an IoT company in the areas of Automatization, Smart Cities, Industry 4.0, and Smart Building, with a growing presence, both in the public and private sectors.
