- Shaping the Future of 6G Through Federated Systems
12/02/2025 de 18:00 a 19:00 (Europe/Madrid / UTC100)
The EETAC Master's degrees in Applied Telecom. and Engineering Management (MASTEAM), Advanced Telecommunications Technologies (MATT), and Erasmus Mundus master's degree in Communications, Engineering and Data Science (CoDaS) organize a weekly series of activities (talks, technical visits, discussion pannels) that complement the academic activities with real-world experiences from companies, research centres and institutions in the main topics of the master: Machine Learning, Data Science, Internet of Things, Smart Cities, 5G mobile communications, Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Radio (SDR), cloud computing, augmented reality and audiovisual services, among others.
This week's activity will be a talk by Adrián Pino-Martínez.
Title: "Shaping the Future of 6G Through Federated Systems"
Abstract: As the sixth generation of communication networks takes shape, federation emerges as a foundational principle for enabling seamless collaboration across systems, infrastructures, and domains. This interconnected approach is key to supporting large-scale experimentation and the deployment of advanced vertical applications that leverage 6G capabilities.
Federation in 6G is not just about connecting testbeds; it’s about building a unified platform for innovation. This platform enables access to a wide range of tools, such as AI-driven automation, intelligent resource management, and cutting-edge 6G enablers, while maintaining compliance with evolving standards. Through a shared and scalable experimentation framework, federation facilitates the convergence of diverse technologies and ensures the collaborative growth of a robust, next-generation ecosystem.
In this talk, we will explore the role of federation in addressing the challenges of 6G, its impact on experimentation and innovation, and the technical enablers that make it a reality.
Bio: Adrián Pino-Martínez received his M.Sc. (2021) in Advanced Telecommunication Technologies Engineering (5G Networks) from EETAC - Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and his B.Sc. (2019) in Telecommunications Engineering (Telematics) from the University of Granada, Spain. His current research interests include virtualisation, intelligent service management in the context of 5G/6G, and orchestration platforms for Cloud Continuum based on SDN/NFV. He has experience in Cloud migration, CI/CD & DevOps methodology, and is accustomed to scoping and leading proof of concept (PoC) and pilot deployments. Adrián has worked on various national and European projects under H2020, SNS JU, and GN5-FPA initiatives, including PLEDGER, CARAMEL, XGAIN, SUNRISE-6G, GN5-1, and GN5-2.
