MASTEAM-MATT talk - Seyed Mahdi Darroudi (Neutroon) - Cellular network maturities: how to complete the service cycle by edge processing.
21/02/2024
Next MASTEAM-MATT talk: "Cellular network maturities: how to complete the service cycle by edge processing" from Seyed Mahdi Darroudi (Neutroon). Wednesday 21st February 2024, 18:00h. Classroom C4-021B EETAC, Campus Castelldefels, UPC
The EETAC Master's degrees in Applied Telecom. and Engineering Management (MASTEAM) and Advanced Telecommunications Technologies (MATT) organize a weekly series of activities (talks, technical visits, discussion pannels) that complement the academic activities with real-world experiences from companies, research centres and institutions in the main topics of the master: Internet of Things, Smart Cities, 5G
mobile communications, Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Radio (SDR), cloud computing, augmented reality and audiovisual services, among others.”
This week's activity will be a talk session from Dr Seyed Mahdi Darroudi (Neutroon)
Title: “Cellular network maturities: how to complete the service cycle by edge processing”
Abstract: The 5th generation of cellular networks opens new horizons for diverse use cases, especially in industrial networks, thanks to the new introduced features and high ranked performance parameters. Besides, along with 5G appearance, the new concept of software
defined network (SDN) and Network functions virtualization (NFV) have been trended which unlocked new approaches for the private cellular networks and edge processing. Network virtualization was a game changer which opened the door for the smaller players in the network industry to contribute in the cellular network maturity and enrich this market.
In this talk, we are going to discuss how the 5G network deals with private networks, edge processing, coexistence of multiple technologies in physical layers and network layers.
Bio: Seyed Mahdi Darroudi received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Computer Network in 2007 and 2011, respectively. He is currently a PhD holder in Computer Network from UPC. He has +15 years of experience and research on different wireless network technologies like WiFi, LPWNa, LoRa, satellite communication and cellular networks. He also has +5 years of teaching experience, giving courses on computer networks topics. Apart from publication, he is honored to be part of RFC 9159 standard. He has been peer reviewer for +10 well known highly rated journals and conferences. He has also experience on Fuzzy Logic as an AI method for Decision Support Systems (DSS). He has been working in many national and European projects like: Zero-Swarm, Target-X, 6GSmart, Open6G, 6G-Chronos, OpenCAMARA, WINTERTIME, Aerial Inspection of electrical and oil & gas grids and cut costs with unmanned aircraft, ALLINONE.
He was recently founded by Torres Quevedo program to research on 5G/6G elements (RAN and Core) optimization employing AI/ML methods. He is currently R&D manager in Neutroon which investigates 5G/beyonds, toward 6G networks. His current scope of work also includes edge processing and integrating 5G networks into industrial use cases to satisfy Industry 4.0 requirements.
When: Wednesday 21st February 2024, 18:00h
Where: Classroom C4-021B. How to arrive
These technologies are being used and developed in the 6GSMART project , focused in the development of cyberphysical systems applied to Industry 4.0, based in private 5G/6G networks, Time-Sensitive Networking, Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Continuum environments.
