17/05/2024

Next MASTEAM-MATT talk: "How 5G penetrates the Industry? Can 5G satisfy Industry 4.0 requirements?" from Seyed Mahdi Darroudi (Neutroon). Wednesday 22th May 2024, 18:00h. Classroom C4-021B EETAC, Campus Castelldefels, UPC

The EETAC Master's degrees in Applied Telecom. and Engineering Management (MASTEAM) and Advanced Telecommunications Technologies (MATT) organize a weekly series of activities (talks, technical visits, discussion pannels) that complement the academic activities with real-world experiences from companies, research centres and institutions in the main topics of the master: Internet of Things, Smart Cities, 5G mobile communications, Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Radio (SDR), cloud computing, augmented reality and audiovisual services, among others.”

This week's activity will be a talk session from Dr Seyed Mahdi Darroudi (Neutroon)

Title: "How 5G penetrates the Industry? Can 5G satisfy Industry 4.0 requirements?"

AbstractFrom the common user experiences point of view like web browsing or youtube video streaming, etc, there is not much difference between 4G and 5G. The main benefit of the 5G is how it satisfies the Industry 4.0 requirements and penetrates into industrial use cases. Slicing and improving network KPIs opens the horizon to remove cables from shop floors and have a flexible production line employing 5G. However, the success rate of such replacement depends on how the 5G can be integrated into industrial communication protocols. This talk explains the 5G features which can satisfy Industry 4.0 requirements, challenges and solutions

Bio: Seyed Mahdi Darroudi received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Computer Network in 2007 and 2011, respectively. He is currently a PhD holder in Computer Network from UPC.

He has +15 years of experience and research on different wireless network technologies like WiFi, LPWAN, LoRa, satellite communication and cellular networks. He also has +5 years of teaching experience, giving courses on computer networks topics.
