El premi IEEE Communications Society Charles Kao Award 2019 s'otorga al millor article científic del període 2016-2018 de la temàtica “Optical Communications and Networking” / The IEEE Communications Society Charles Kao Award 2019 is given to the best scientific article published between 2016 and 2018 regarding “Optical Communications and Networking”.

El projecte finalista guanyador, ECOGAIN, viatjarà el 31 d'octubre a Silicon Valley, Califòrnia, al costat d'altres finalistes d’arreu de l’Estat Espanyol que participaran a la final nacional.
