Amateur Radio Station Operator Course within CasTECHdefels 2025
May 27, 2025
Professor David García Vizcaíno will lead this course in June, which is of particular relevance given the current technological and social context. Amateur radio operators also play a crucial role in emergency networks during disaster or conflict situations, providing an essential service when conventional infrastructure may fail. For this reason, the course is a unique opportunity to discover this amateur—but vital—world firsthand.
The course aims to provide all the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to take, if desired, the official exam organized by the administration to obtain the Amateur Radio Operator Certificate, through both theoretical and hands-on sessions.
Using a radio station available at EETAC, we’ll carry out real demonstrations, short and long-distance communications, and other activities (receiving aircraft signals, Volmets, Radio beacons, Acars, ships, radar, satellites, ISS...) that will help students better understand the theoretical concepts.
Moreover, the course is also open to anyone interested in discovering the technologies and activities of amateur telecommunications, even if they do not intend to become amateur radio operators.
EETAC students will receive a certificate allowing them to validate 1 elective university extension credit, out of the 6 credits that can be recognized for ‘external’ activities.
The exam for the HAREC harmonized amateur radio certificate (which certifies that the holder has passed the exam according to the requirements of the International Telecommunication Union – ITU) is the first step toward obtaining an amateur radio callsign (Authorization).
THE REGISTRATION FEE FOR THIS COURSE IS €50
