EETAC participates in the Let's Go Engineering initiative to promote vocations from primary school

Jul 09, 2025

Last June, the EETAC welcomed around fifty children from El Garrofer School in Viladecans. This activity was part of the Let’s Go Engineering initiative, promoted by Schneider Electric, which aims to bring engineering closer to young students and inspire scientific and technological vocations from an early age.

Let’s Go Engineering is part of Schneider Electric’s commitment to promoting diversity and STEM talent in future generations. The initiative involves corporate volunteers who visit schools or accompany student groups to university and technology centers like EETAC, offering practical, accessible, and inspiring experiences in engineering.

At EETAC, several students from the school —José A. García, Paula Valle, Iván De Dios, Marta Solanes, Queralt Sierra, and Roc Fortuny (to whom we are very grateful for their participation!)— actively collaborated by leading educational workshops tailored to the participants' ages. In one of the workshops, children learned how to transmit messages using light with Morse code and experimented with simple encryption techniques like the Caesar cipher. In another workshop, they designed and tested different paper airplane models, evaluating their flight and competing to see which flew farther or more accurately.

The day was a great opportunity for younger students to get a fun and engaging first taste of telecommunications and aeronautical engineering in a university setting like the one we offer at EETAC.
