May 06, 2025

The second edition of the UPC Thinking Festivals competition, organized by UPC in collaboration with the Primavera Sound and Cruïlla festivals, has recognized two proposals from UPC students aimed at transforming the attendee experience at large music events, with a focus on accessibility and technological optimization.

Marta de Gea, Noah Posada, and Gal·la Farnós, students of the double degree in Aerospace Systems Engineering and Telecommunication Systems Engineering at UPC, were recognized for their proposal CruïllaApp—an intelligent application that optimizes attendee mobility and improves service management during the festival. Using real-time data gathered via wifi, bluetooth, and existing sensors, CruïllaApp offers smart recommendations to reduce queues, avoid crowding, and enhance the efficiency of food services and access points.

The students from the Castelldefels School of Telecommunications and Aerospace Engineering (EETAC) have developed an innovative tool that requires no costly infrastructure, enabling attendees to enjoy the festival to the fullest while helping organizers optimize resources.

The awards were presented on April 23rd as part of the Sarau de Sant Jordi UPC, an event held at UPC’s Diagonal North Campus in Plaça de les Constel·lacions. The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Primavera Sound and Cruïlla festivals.
