EETAC students visit the ENAIRE Air Traffic Control Center.
Apr 04, 2025
Last Wednesday, April 2, 40 students from the Castelldefels School of Telecommunications and Aerospace Engineering (EETAC) visited the ENAIRE Air Traffic Control Center in Gavà.
This visit allowed students to apply in a real-world setting the knowledge acquired in the classroom about air traffic management, observing firsthand en-route operations, departures, approaches, and landings at Barcelona Airport.
During the visit, they were welcomed by Inmaculada Prieto, Director of ENAIRE’s EAST Region, who shared her experience in the sector. Several facility and service managers guided our students through the operations and technologies used in air traffic management.
At the end of the day, students had the opportunity to listen to and talk with David Sedano Abad, Dean of the Official College of Aeronautical Technical Engineers (COITAE), who provided a brief explanation of the engineer's role in Spain and Europe. This served as an introduction to the upcoming conference at the school on April 30th: "ENGINEERING: Graduating, Registering, and Signing Projects: The Essentials for Your Professional Future."
This experience has been a unique opportunity for our students to complement their academic training with a practical insight into the real-world operation of air traffic control. Due to the high demand and interest shown by students, this visit is expected to be organized more regularly in the future.
We extend our gratitude to ENAIRE, especially to Inmaculada Prieto, for her hospitality and dedication in making this enriching experience possible. We also want to express our appreciation to David Sedano Abad, Dean of COITAE, for his participation and valuable contributions during the visit.
This collaboration between institutions has been essential in providing our students with a practical and realistic perspective on the air navigation sector.
