Graduation ceremony of the class of 2024

Last Friday, July 12, the graduation ceremony of the graduates of the 2023-24 EETAC class was held at the Viladecans Atrium.

Mrs. Cristina Cervelló, Director of the EETAC, presided over the event together with Mr. Daniel Crespo, magnificent rector of the UPC. As last year, at the event we also enjoyed the welcome that Mr. Carles Ruiz, Il·lm mayor of Viladecans, offered the attendees.

During the ceremony, awards were given to the most outstanding records of each of the center's degrees to the following students:

Both for the awarding of these prizes, and for the awarding of diplomas to each and every graduate present, we had the presence of the representatives of the professional colleges. Mr. David Sedano Abad, dean of the Official College of Aerospace Engineers and Aeronautical Technical Engineers, the Mr. Jordi Farré Carbonell, dean of the Official College of Graduates and Technical Telecommunications Engineers of Catalonia, Mr. Gonçal Bonhome Altable, president of the Catalan Association of Telecommunication Engineering and Digital Technologies( Telecos.cat) and Mrs. Carmen Borja, technology director of the company Fractus.

In this ceremony, the rector also presented the "Viu la UPC" award, by the association UPCAlumni . This award aims to recognize the effort and dedication of the graduates of each degree who have been involved and participated actively and prominently with our university community. In this second edition, the awardees (ex-aequo) were Alba Roma and Gerard López.

As a novelty, this year, thanks to the collaboration of the company Fractus, the FRACTUS-MASTEAM award for the best MASTEAM Thesis is presented. Fractus is a company born from the research carried out at the UPC, created by one of the school's teachers, Carles Puente, and which has been a pioneering company in the development of fractal antennas for smartphones, tablets and IoT devices.

The awarded project is titled “Intrusion Detection in IoT networks using Machine Learning", supervised by Professor Olga León and defended by the student Francisco Camilo Mejías Espinosa.

At the request of the students themselves, EETAC professors José Luis Valenzuela, David Garcia and Pere L. Gilabert also took part in the event.

The event closed with the singing of the Gaudeamus Igitur with the collaboration of the Coral Sant Medir.
