Space Generation: 15 EETAC students participate in SG[Spain] 2025 in Bilbao

Nov 24, 2025

After hosting the event in 2023, the EETAC of the UPC reaffirms its commitment to promoting activities linked to the space sector. This year, ten students received support from the school to participate in the SG[Spain] 2025 congress, held in Bilbao on 14–15 November at the Bizkaia Aretoa of the UPV/EHU. The EETAC delegation brought together fifteen students from the school’s different degrees—an excellent example of the transversal Aero Telecos and Space spirit that defines us.

The participation of 15 students from the School of Telecommunications and Aerospace Engineering of Castelldefels (EETAC) at SG[Spain] 2025 strengthens the UPC-EETAC’s commitment to the academic and professional development of its students. The school thus continues its close connection with this event, after hosting the congress in 2023 and taking part prominently in the 2024 edition in Tenerife.

SG[Spain] 2025, organised by the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), took place at the Bizkaia Aretoa, the emblematic UPV/EHU building located on the banks of the Bilbao estuary. The event gathered more than 100 participants.
The programme on Friday 14 November included technical visits to two leading companies in the Basque space ecosystem: SENER, in Getxo, and SATLANTIS, in Leioa. Participants had the chance to discover their clean rooms, laboratories and integration and flight-hardware validation areas, as well as to better understand the role of these companies in the development of missions and Earth-observation payloads.

Saturday 15 November hosted the main programme, with presentations, round tables and workshops. The congress featured technical talks by companies such as SATLANTIS, IDOM, AIRBUS, DHV, Starion and GMV, among others.

Student feedback was extremely positive. Enric Laosa shared:

“SG[Spain] Bilbao was my first congress, and I really enjoyed the opportunities to meet new companies and professionals in the aerospace sector. I also attended the visit to SATLANTIS, and it was a real privilege to see how a satellite is developed.”

Adrian Eusebiu highlighted:

“The event was incredible. I didn’t expect so many companies to attend and talk with us, and the activities we took part in were very enriching.”

For UPC-EETAC students, SG[Spain] 2025 offered an opportunity to connect with professionals from agencies, industry and start-ups, explore career paths, and understand firsthand the current needs of the European space sector—particularly in areas such as satellite navigation, Earth observation, security, defence and the development of new launchers. Attending this kind of event complements their academic training and helps them position themselves as active members of the new generation of space professionals.

With this new participation in SG[Spain], UPC-EETAC reaffirms its role as a committed actor in promoting young talent and strengthening the space community, ensuring that its students make the most of the networking, learning and collaboration opportunities offered by initiatives like this.
